Two-punch storm may hit underground power systems

The second punch from Hurricane Florence may hit some electric cooperative members served by underground systems, as heavy rain accumulates and flows into portions of South Carolina this week.

Electric cooperatives seek to preserve options in court

Central Electric Power Cooperative took action today to preserve legal options for electric cooperatives after two unfinished nuclear generating units in Fairfield County were abandoned by the owners. Santee Cooper and SCE&G stopped construction on V.C. Summer Nuclear Units 2 and 3 in July 2017.
