Executive and Administrative Assistant

Cayce, S.C. | Full-time, in office | Excellent salary | Apply by Nov. 2, 2026

Work directly alongside the CEO of a statewide association and help every team in the building do its best work. The Electric Cooperatives of South Carolina represents the state's member-owned electric cooperatives, which serve nearly two million people. We advocate at the State House, train lineworkers, provide legal guidance, and tell the co-op story through our magazine, SC Living. As our Executive and Administrative Assistant, you'll keep all of that running smoothly.

Why this role

  • Learning opportunities and great connections. You'll work directly with our CEO and Chief of Staff and see how a statewide association is led, from board meetings to day-to-day decisions.

  • Variety, not monotony. One day you might be coordinating a meeting for our CEO. The next, you might be helping our training staff organize a workshop, or traveling with them to run it.

  • Trust that builds. We're a small team, and capable people get handed more. Hard work and excellent results are rewarded.

  • A mission you can stand behind. Locally governed cooperatives are not-for-profit and owned by the members they serve. There are no shareholders, so the work you help make possible benefits South Carolina families and businesses.

What you'll do

  • Work with the Chief of Staff to manage the CEO's calendar, schedule meetings, and keep the week on track.

  • Track open items across the CEO's office and follow through so nothing slips, often before anyone has to ask.

  • Coordinate travel, including itineraries, registrations, and lodging.

  • Process expense reports and invoices.

  • Draft, edit, and proofread correspondence.

  • Maintain organized files, records, and organization-wide contact lists.

  • Greet visitors and help keep the office running smoothly.

  • Support our entire executive team and each department with projects, including event logistics and production, mailings, research, data entry, and document preparation.

What the work looks like

No two days are the same. Priorities can shift quickly when the CEO needs something or another team is up against a deadline, and you'll often be juggling several requests at once. Events sometimes mean an early morning, a late evening, or an overnight trip. If you like keeping a lot of moving pieces on track and take pride in getting the details right, you'll love this work. If you don't enjoy self-directed work, this won't be the right fit for you.

What we offer

  • Excellent salary, depending on experience, with room to grow

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance at no cost to you

  • A defined-benefit pension, rare today, that rewards a long career

  • 401(k) with employer match

  • Generous paid time off

  • A close-knit team where people stay for decades

  • An office conveniently located in the heart of Cayce

What you'll bring

Required:

  • Strong organization and attention to detail, with the ability to juggle competing requests and meet deadlines

  • Clear, accurate, professional writing

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams) and a willingness to learn new tools

  • Flexibility for occasional early mornings, late evenings, or overnight travel around events, and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds for purposes of meeting set-up and general building support

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Administrative, executive support, office, or customer service experience. That could be at an association, nonprofit, law firm, government office, or small business.

  • Experience supporting senior leaders or a board, and handling confidential information with discretion

  • Experience organizing meetings or events

We care more about how you think and work than how many years are on your résumé. If you meet most of these and you're a natural problem solver, we want to hear from you.
