Journeyman Team Event – Crossarm Change-out Relay
Drop Dead Time: 15:00 |
Event Summary:
Work gloves are required for this event. Two team members will be required to perform each task. Each member of the team will be required to climb and be a groundman for this event. The framing will be a B1.11 (B1) on a 40’ pole. There will not be a conductor on either phase. The neutral will be spaced at 5’ and a 1/0 ACSR conductor will be installed at the neutral position. The neutral conductor cannot be floated. The crossarm assembly and braces will not be installed at the start of the event (bare pole at the top with holes pre-bored for the arm thru-bolt and brace thru-bolt). The first and third climber will perform a crossarm and brace installation. The second climber will perform a crossarm and brace removal. When lifting the arm into position for installation, a clove hitch tied on one end of the arm and a half hitch on the other shall be used. When lowering the arm for removal, a clove hitch shall be tied on one end of the arm. Each team must provide their own handline. An eyebolt will be secured at the top of the pole to hang their handline. Each member of the team will be required to be a groundman for one of the climbers and either frame the arm with the provided material or deconstruct the arm. Judging will continue until the event site is placed back to its original condition. Note: A bucket operator will be available to help in arm removal at the conclusion of the event.
