2023 S.C. Lineman’s Rodeo
Tools and/or Equipment
Rodeo competitors are allowed to bring and use their own tools and/or equipment at the 2023 S.C. Lineman’s Rodeo, as long as, the tools meet the guidelines specified in the South Carolina Lineman’s Rodeo General Rules. Event descriptions that specify a tool or piece of equipment is provided by the S.C. Lineman’s Rodeo, shall be used for that event. In the event a competitor’s tools do not pass a random inspection, have a failure prior to beginning an event, etc…, the SCLR will have some tools available for use at each event site so the competitor can complete the event. Below is a list of the tools and/or equipment ECSC will have available at each competitor event site.
Apprentice Division
Hurtman Rescue:
- 3: Handline with a standard handline block (one per event)
Deadend Insulator Changeout:
- 4: 15” Canvas Buckets (one per event – competitors required to use)
- 4: Handlines (one per event)
- 1: Web Hoists
- 2: Conductor Grips
Insulator Replacement and Conductor Tie-in:
- 4: 15” Canvas Buckets (one per event – competitors required to use)
- 4: Handlines (one per event)
Secondary Cable Replacement in Conduit
- 1: Extendo Stick
- 1: Voltmeter
- 1: 5/16” socket, extension, and ratchet wrench
- 1: 5/16” T-Handle Allen Wrench & Allen Socket, extension, ratchet wrench
- 1: Pintle Bolt Wrench
- 3: 15” Canvas Buckets (one per event)
- 1: UG Triplex Cutters
- 3: Tarps (one per event – competitors required to use)
Journeyman Division
Cutout and Arrestor Changeout:
- 1: Mechanical Jumper (Grounding Jumper may be used)
- 2: Shotgun Sticks
- 3: Tarps (one per event – competitors required to use)
Digger Derrick Obstacle Course:
- Terex to provide Digger Derrick
Double Crossarm Changeout:
- 3: Tarps (one per event – competitors required to use)
GFC Relay:
- 1: Extendo Stick
- 1: Chain hoist
- 1: Guy wire grip
- 3: Pulling hooks (one per event – competitors required to use)
Mystery Events: The SCLR will provide all tools and equipment for these events.
